"The Rose of Cimarron"
Rick Fowler
Texas-born and bred Rick Fowler migrated to New Mexico in the mid sixties. A self-taught representational painter with a degree in art from TCU, he is also a talented musician and songwriter, having penned tunes for Jerry Jeff Walker and Hoyt Axton, and toured with Michael Martin Murphey and Gary P. Nunn. While he still entertains in the Red River area, his artwork is his main focus today.
"My work deals with the subject and its relationship to personal and collective memory. It is hoped that my paintings may function in a way that allows the viewer to attach a personal significance, memory, or fantasy to them."
Fowler views the southwest as an inexhaustible source of inspiration and subject matter. His work can be found in local shops and galleries.
