Michael Martin Murphey
Music has always been an important part of Red River life. In the early days the sound of fiddles and banjos helped hard-rock miners dance their troubles away, while the strains of sweet piano music were a mainstay of social life for permanent residents who stayed long after the miners had moved on to new gold fields. In the magical days of the 1970s the valley rang with music of the legendary figures of the Progressive Country revolution that swept the nation. The names of Rusty Weir, Gary P. Nunn, Steve Framholtz, Ray Wylie Hubbard and Michael Martin Murphey graced promo posters around town.
Recording great Michael Martin Murphey still performs on a regular basis in town at the Red River Inns Mineshaft Theater. In his 11 year at the 150-seat venue, MMM will be performing many of his hits - "Wildfire", "Whats Forever For", "Cherokee Fiddle" - as well as songs from his latest album of Cowboy music. Call the Red River Inn for reservation.

Also appearing at the Mineshaft Theatre will be the annual Melodrama. A long-running tradition, the whole family can cheer the hero and boo the villain or vice-versa. Its great fun: dont miss it!
